Polished: Project 2- Rhetorical Analysis of Artifacts

For my final post, I decided to redo the entire contrast between both artifacts in my rhetorical analysis. I realized that my comparison was rushed and did not dive into the 'rhetorical analysis' that was asked. This Global Revision makes my analysis easier to read, and more understandable with its purpose.

Reflection

This class has helped me exponentially improve my writing. Through the various linguistic techniques, I learned to curate my writing to a specific target audience, format my essays appropriately for professionalism, and stray away from linear thinking. I learned how to compose essays for a specific purpose or audience, as well as incorporate strong sources to support my claim. With each project, peer reviews gave me an edge over my final grade as I was able to take other people's perspectives on my paper. Learning to take that perspective into your revisions is also an important quality because normally I shy away from asking people for help, viewing help as a weakness. The strategies that I used to complete the 3 major projects were outlining important information on each source and trying to compare and contrast them to each other when asked to. This would allow me to learn how to compose my essays with explicit information rather than basic, and cater the text to the specified audience. Since our audience had variety, adaptability was very important when switching from professionals to the general public.

Revision

The rhetorical analysis was my biggest obstacle to overcome, as my writing had become too vague and did not provide enough depth to show my writing intended purpose with the artifacts.  While I had to dissect the artifacts for their purpose, to show how the artifacts function, how effectively they work, and how important they are when used in conversation, to educate and enlighten the audience; I instead did a summary of the artifacts instead. This is why I will be revising Project 2: Rhetorical analysis on Field Artifacts. Hopefully, through this revision, you will see growth by deflecting away from summaries or vague ideas and focusing more on the use of evidence, citations, and specificity.

2 Artifacts

My first artifact will be my annotated bibliography, which was my only 100% in the class and is what I am most proud of. This is because it showed the 'proper format' of a bibliography which I had not learned before. Learning professionalism within the writing world is what makes your content appear trustable as a source, and free from mistakes. Within this assignment, I had to research each source I collected, and outline their publication, author, date, determine signifies as biased/unbiased information, and finally, rate their authenticity with allowed forms of contact.

My second artifact will be the commercial genre I used in 'Project 3'. This is because I was able to use creative problem-solving to create my own commercial. Efficiently directing content to be easily consumed by your audience is important in all aspects of literature. Speeches, Commercials, Podcasts, Essays, or Journals all share the same purpose of informing, entertaining or persuading. My main goal was to make the commercial entertaining for the audience, I used rhetorical techniques such as hyperbole or personification to not bore the general public with a plain infomercial. While I did not have a dog available with me, the use of a fake dog was beneficial as it did add a source of witticism to my topic.
